On September 9,
Leopard officially launched the all-new mid-to-large SUV
Tai 7. Built on a unibody platform, the Tai 7 is powered by a 1.5-liter turbo-charged plug-in hybrid system and is offered in two 2WD and two 4WD variants. The flagship 4WD model can even be specified with
BYD’s intelligent in-car drone system.

Staying true to the “boxy” silhouette favored by hard-core off-roaders, Tai 7 adds unpainted resin bumpers and side skirts for a rugged touch. A signature design cue is the split-level headlamp cluster that produces a distinctive double-L light signature when lit.
Along the flanks you’ll find conventional door handles, fixed side steps and body-colored wheel arches. The A- through D-pillars are blacked out, while the glass between the C- and D-pillars is semi-concealed behind a body-colored panel—an approach reminiscent of the Land Rover Defender 130 Outbound special edition.
At the rear, the side-hinged tailgate carries a small external “utility box” rather than a spare tire. The LED taillamps repeat the double-L graphic, and the exhaust is tucked out of sight.
Inside, a stepped dual-layer dashboard creates an open storage ledge. An instrument display and a multimedia screen sit side by side, gear selection is by stalk, and the center console houses wireless phone chargers and cup-holders.
Standard equipment on every Tai 7 includes ventilated & heated seats, power front seats, a W-HUD, dual wireless chargers and utility ports behind the front seats. Mid-spec 2WD models add a compressor-type refrigerator and upgraded chassis control, while the range-topper scores a premium audio system and a fragrance diffuser.
For driver assistance, the flagship 4WD variant adopts “Tian-Shen-Zhi-Yan B” laser package: lidar, NVIDIA Orin-X silicon and full-scenario high-speed/urban pilot plus automated parking. This version can also be ordered with Ling-Yuan BYD smart drone tech. Lower 4WD trims receive the “Tian-Shen-Zhi-Yan C” triple-camera setup for high-speed pilot, with future OTA city-memory pilot promised.
Propulsion comes from a 1.5T PHEV system in either 2WD or 4WD form. The engine delivers 115 kW; the 2WD’s single e-motor adds 200 kW, while the 4WD combines 160 kW front and 200 kW rear motors.
Battery choices are 26.6 kWh or 35.6 kWh for 2WD, with the larger pack standard on 4WD. CLTC electric range spans 135–200 km. Suspension is double-wishbone front / five-link rear, with high-speed blow-out assistance.
