The Hongqi HS6 PHEV, a new mid-to-full-size SUV from China’s premium brand Hongqi, is generating buzz ahead of its expected launch later this year. Positioned as a plug-in hybrid
electric vehicle (PHEV), the HS6 combines traditional luxury with modern electrification—without compromising on power or space.
At its core is a 1.5-liter turbocharged plug-in hybrid powertrain, delivering 110 kW from the combustion engine alone. Buyers can choose between two lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs supplied by Jiangsu Zhenli New Energy Battery Technology: a 23.9 kWh unit offering up to 123 km of pure-electric range, or a larger 39.5 kWh pack available in two tuning states—190 km and a class-leading 205 km (MIIT cycle). Top speed is quoted at 205 km/h, while curb weight spans from 2,040 kg to 2,285 kg depending on specification.

Visually, the HS6 PHEV retains Hongqi’s stately design language: a closed, vertical-slat grille framed by chrome, a prominent red flag motif on the nose, and newly integrated single-piece LED headlamps (the split-headlamp layout seen on other Hongqi models has been dropped). Traditional door handles and a non-connected tail-lamp graphic reinforce an understated, executive presence. Measuring 4,925 mm long, 1,970 mm wide and 1,740 mm tall on a 2,925 mm wheelbase, the SUV is strictly a five-seater, prioritizing cabin space and comfort over a third row.
Market watchers expect the HS6 PHEV to slot just below the larger HS7 PHEV in Hongqi’s lineup, targeting families and business users who need generous rear-seat room and zero-emission commuting capability without venturing into full-size territory.
