We have recently learned from official sources that the all-new BMW i3 has commenced mass production and officially rolled off the assembly line at the BMW Group's Munich plant. Following a four-year in-depth transformation and upgrade, the plant has constructed a new body shop and a new final assembly shop with supporting logistics areas. The production launch of the all-new BMW i3 marks the beginning of a new chapter of development for the BMW Group's Munich plant. Starting from 2027, the Munich plant will exclusively produce pure electric models, with more Neue Klasse platform models to follow. In addition, the BMW i3 will have its interior officially unveiled at the Chengdu Auto Show opening on August 21.
The long-wheelbase version of the all-new BMW i3 is scheduled for domestic production in January 2027. The debut model will be the BMW i3 40 long-wheelbase version. The BMW i3 measures 4760/1865/1480mm in length, width, and height respectively, with a wheelbase of 2897mm. It is equipped with a 31L front trunk and a 420L rear trunk, and the paint will be available in a Mantis Green color. Furthermore, the vehicle will feature a new, China-exclusive semi-hidden door handle, and the C-pillar will feature an illuminated M badge.
In terms of powertrain, the vehicle will adopt an 800V high-voltage platform architecture and be equipped with the sixth-generation eDrive electric drive system, achieving a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 4.7 seconds. The battery capacity is 108kWh, with the debut version offering a driving range of 906 kilometers.
