Recently, official images of the BMW iX4 were released. The new model is built on the Neue Klasse platform, comes standard with the M Sport package across the range, features dual-motor all-wheel drive, and will go on sale in March 2027.
In terms of exterior design, the BMW iX4 adopts the Neue Klasse design language. The front introduces a retro-style twin kidney grille, with the headlight assembly and front grille forming a complete visual unit. With the M Sport package, the front bumper conveys a sporty presence, and the vehicle has a drag coefficient of 0.23.
In terms of dimensions, the new model measures 4,782/1,895/1,595 mm in length, width, and height, with a wheelbase of 2,897 mm. It features a long wheelbase, short front and rear overhangs, an integrated panoramic glass roof, and a fastback-style rear. A dynamic spoiler is standard, along with 20-inch M light-alloy wheels and a blue-calipers M Sport brake system. The taillights also follow the family design, and the rear bumper is equally aggressive, echoing the front.
The BMW iX4 M60 xDrive has an exclusive exterior. The front features an exclusive badge and new yellow headlights inspired by GT racing. It adopts an exclusive M Performance sport package, including exclusive exterior mirrors, a rear spoiler, and black trim. The taillights also feature an exclusive design.
Inside, the cabin is equipped with the BMW Panoramic iDrive interaction system, with a projection display positioned at the bottom of the windshield, paired with a 17.9-inch central touchscreen. A 3D head-up display is optional, and the voice assistant uses Amazon Alexa+ technology. The iX4 M60 xDrive has an exclusive M Sport steering wheel with a sportier two-spoke design, plus added Boost and M buttons.
For seating, the BMW iX4 comes standard with sport seats that balance support and comfort, with power adjustment and memory functions. The rear backrest supports 40/20/40 split folding, and rear seat heating is optional. The iX4 M60 xDrive brings 10-way power-adjustable M sport seats. M sport seats and multifunction seats are also optional on other versions. The base version comes standard with a 7-speaker, 205-watt hi-fi audio system; the M60 xDrive offers a Harman Kardon 13-speaker, 430-watt audio system with Dolby Atmos support, and this audio system is available as a paid option on other versions.
In terms of powertrain, the new model is equipped with sixth-generation BMW eDrive electric drive technology, a core technology of the Neue Klasse platform. It uses a new cylindrical-cell high-voltage battery, an 800V platform, and upgraded high-efficiency motors to support this technological leap. The sixth-generation electric drive delivers stronger performance, supports up to 400 kW DC fast charging, significantly improves range compared with fifth-generation eDrive models, and supports bidirectional external discharging.
The iX4 40 xDrive uses front and rear dual motors, with a combined output of 275 kW and peak torque of 520 Nm. It accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 5.6 seconds and has a maximum WLTP range of 638 km. The iX4 50 xDrive also uses dual-motor all-wheel drive, with a combined output of 345 kW and peak torque of 645 Nm. It accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 4.9 seconds, has a top speed of 210 km/h, a usable battery capacity of 108.7 kWh, and a WLTP range of 828 km. Peak charging power is 400 kW; under ideal conditions, 10 minutes of fast charging can add 387 km of range.
The iX4 M60 xDrive features M-specific all-wheel-drive tuning, a maximum output of 450 kW, 0-100 km/h acceleration in 3.9 seconds, an electronically limited top speed of 240 km/h, and a WLTP estimated range of up to 777 km.
The iX4 adopts a new electrical/electronic architecture. The Heart of Joy high-performance central computing unit, combined with the BMW Dynamic Performance Control driving stack, enables efficient management of the powertrain and chassis. Its computing power is ten times that of the previous system, simplifying the control command chain and delivering smooth, precise, and stable driving quality. The flat high-voltage battery provides an extremely low center of gravity; together with near 50:50 weight distribution and an upgraded chassis, the vehicle offers precise and agile handling.
The iX4 M60 xDrive uses adaptive M suspension, including electronically controlled dampers and variable-ratio sport steering, balancing sport performance and ride comfort. Adaptive M suspension is optional across the range. The M60 xDrive exclusively offers an electronically controlled M rear differential lock and two M-specific My Modes (M Sport, M Sport Plus), delivering an immersive sporty driving experience.
The highway assist system can achieve hands-free driving at up to 130 km/h on roads in multiple countries, and supports intelligent lane changes on legally permitted sections. The feature will be rolled out by the end of 2026 in Germany, the UK, France, the US, Japan, and other countries.
