Xiaomi Pengcheng N70 EREV: A Deep Dive into the New Range-Extended SUV

Xiaomi’s highly anticipated “Human x Car x Home” event has officially concluded, marking the official launch of the Xiaomi Pengcheng N70. Available in two distinct trims—the N70 Pro and N70 MAX—this new model features a range-extended powertrain. In this edition of New Car Focus, we take a comprehensive look at what the Xiaomi Pengcheng N70 has to offer.

Exterior Design and Lighting

The Xiaomi Pengcheng N70 adopts a fresh design language that diverges from Xiaomi’s existing automotive lineup. However, it retains the iconic cross-shaped lighting signature at the front. The daytime running lights feature a “dragonfly wing” design, seamlessly integrating with the front grille to form a continuous panel. This panel proudly displays the “SkyNomad” English emblem and is equipped with ultra-long-range headlights. The high beams project up to 605 meters, while the low beams deliver an ultra-wide 180° coverage.

Buyers can also personalize the front panel with four different material finishes: silver brushed, dark grey brushed, gold brushed, and a hollowed-out smoked black style.

Dimensions, Profile, and Colors

The N70 utilizes a short front overhang and long rear overhang design, with the A-pillar moved forward. This compresses the front functional zone to a minimum, creating a more spacious cabin for front passengers. It features new national standard semi-hidden mechanical door handles, which we believe represent the optimal balance of safety and practicality compared to fully hidden alternatives. The exterior mirrors adopt the same floating design as the SU7 and YU7, and the doors can open to nearly 90 degrees for effortless entry and exit.

Dimensions & Wheel Options: * Length / Width / Height: 4960 / 1998 / 1765 mm * Wheelbase: 2950 mm * Wheels: Two styles of 21-inch rims available

Color Palette: The vehicle is offered in five exterior colors: Butterfly Valley Blue, Distant Mountain Cyan, Volcano Grey, Obsidian Black, and Pearl White.

Rear Styling

At the rear, the N70 features a three-dimensional star-ring taillight bar, centered with the exclusive “Xiaomi Pengcheng” English badge. The tailgate utilizes a one-piece opening mechanism, and the rear bumper features a sleek blacked-out treatment.

Interior and Smart Cabin

The interior is defined by straight, clean lines on the center console. The tech suite is highly impressive, featuring: * 8.8-inch LCD instrument cluster * 20-inch Head-Up Display (HUD) * 16.1-inch central control screen (powered by HyperOS and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8650 chip) * 6.88-inch detachable rear control screen * 21.45-inch flip-down rear entertainment screen

The cabin comes standard with Super Xiao AI, supporting dynamic in-car voice zone interactions and out-of-car voice commands while walking.

ADAS and Autonomous Driving

The Xiaomi Pengcheng N70 is equipped with the Xiaomi HAD (Highway Autonomous Driving) system. Depending on the trim, hardware includes a roof-mounted LiDAR, 1 millimeter-wave radar, and 11 ultrasonic radars. Powered by an NVIDIA Thor-U chip delivering 700 TOPS of computing power and adapted for Xiaomi’s HAD large model, it supports highway navigation assist, city navigation assist, and valet parking assist.

Versatile Seating and Cargo Space

Thanks to a completely flat floor and a fully adjustable sliding rail system, the two front seats can rotate 180 degrees (or be equipped with zero-gravity seats) to enable face-to-face, office, or bed modes. Front seats offer 16-point massage, heating, and ventilation, while the steering wheel is also heated. Rear seats feature heating and ventilation.

By maximizing the sliding rails, the second-row seats can be pushed fully back to offer 1410 mm of legroom, or pushed fully forward to unlock a massive 2425 L of trunk capacity.

Premium Center Console Features

The center console features a cabinet-style structure with hidden storage drawers and a walnut wood surface, complete with a 50W wireless charging pad. The traditional armrest has been upgraded to a movable, independent central island on a sliding rail. This island houses a 9L drawer-type compressor refrigerator and can slide forward and backward to adjust its position.

Powertrain and Performance

The N70 is powered by a range-extended powertrain (EREV) featuring a 1.5T engine. It is available in single-motor and dual-motor configurations: * Single Motor: Max power of 210 kW * Dual Motor: Max power of 210 kW (front) / 100 kW (rear) * 0-100 km/h Acceleration: 5.5 seconds

Battery and Range

Two battery pack options are available: * N70 MAX (76 kWh): Up to 505 km pure electric range (CLTC) and 1461 km total range. * N70 Pro (52 kWh): 351 km pure electric range (CLTC), 1351 km total range, and a WLTC fuel consumption of 5.7 L/100km when the battery is depleted.

Chassis and Suspension

The vehicle rides on an independent suspension setup with double wishbones at the front and a multi-link setup at the rear. It also features air springs and Continuous Damping Control (CDC) shock absorbers for a premium ride.

Final Thoughts

Built on the core Kunlun architecture, the Xiaomi Pengcheng N70 leverages its flat floor and adjustable sliding rail system to cater to diverse scenarios, from family trips and business commutes to leisure travel. The multi-configurable cabin is certainly a standout feature, and with its highly competitive pricing, we expect the N70 to generate significant market buzz upon its release.
