Recently, Rokay learned that Leapmotor officially announced the pre-sale of its all-new model, the Leapmotor Lafa 5, will start on November 7, followed by its launch at the November Guangzhou Auto Show. The new car is positioned as a compact pure electric hatchback with a sporty hot-hatch-like appearance. It will be available in both standard and Ultra versions, with a maximum range of 605 kilometers. The high-end variant is equipped with lidar.
Exterior: The Leapmotor Lafa 5 features a low-slung, plunging front end. The front fascia boasts a closed grille with horizontal curves and large black air guides on the lower bumper. The central intake adopts a multi-slat structure and includes an AGS active grille shutter. A black sporty front splitter is integrated below. The badge is positioned at the front end of the hood, connected to the slim headlights on both sides via a black trim piece, creating a through-type effect. The three-segment daytime running lights inside the headlight cluster are very eye-catching.
The new car will be offered in six color options: Electric Yellow, Wind Gray, Starry Night Blue, Morgan Pink, Galaxy Silver, and Metal Black. Among them, Electric Yellow and Wind Gray are exclusive colors for the Leapmotor Lafa 5. The body profile is compact. While it lacks particularly sharp or rugged character lines, elements like the 19-inch black alloy wheels, black window frames, and black exterior mirrors still create a strong sporty feel. It incorporates popular design features like hidden door handles and frameless doors.
The rear of the Leapmotor Lafa 5 features a full, shapely "fat butt". The red through-type taillights make the rear appear wider, and their internal detailing nicely echoes the headlights. The rear bumper uses a large area of black high-gloss material. In addition to the standard version, the Ultra version of the Lafa 5 comes with sporty kits on both front and rear bumpers, a larger segmented rear spoiler, and uses exclusive matte-finish paint.
Interior & Features: The Leapmotor Lafa 5 will offer two driver assistance system options. The base version does not include lidar but will have a relatively complete set of basic functions. The high-end version, however, comes with a roof-mounted lidar and will support multi-scenario parking assist, highway assist, and urban road navigation functions.
Inside, the dashboard is equipped with a floating full LCD instrument panel and a central touchscreen. It features a dual-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel and an electronic gear shifter mounted on the steering column. The air conditioning vents on both sides of the dashboard are decorated with golden trim. The center console area includes a wireless charging panel, cup holders, and is designed with a hollowed-out section below to provide additional storage space. The Ultra version uses alcantara-like material on the dashboard, doors, seats, and other areas.
The Leapmotor Lafa 5 measures 4430 mm long, 1880 mm wide, and 1520 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2735 mm. The combination of a short body and long wheelbase ensures good handling and sufficient rear legroom. The front seats can be reclined at a large angle and feature electric adjustment. The rear is equipped with air conditioning vents, charging ports, and a center armrest. The new car also features a large panoramic glass roof.
Powertrain & Performance: The standard version of the Leapmotor Lafa 5 is equipped with a single electric motor system. Depending on the configuration, the maximum power outputs are 132 kilowatts and 160 kilowatts, with top speeds of 160 km/h and 170 km/h, respectively. Official information states that the Leapmotor Lafa 5 will offer two range versions: 515 km and 605 km.
