Yangwang U9 Xtreme Debut at 2025 Guangzhou Auto Show – Limited-Edition EV Performance Benchmark | Exported by Rokay

At the 2025 Guangzhou Auto Show, which opened on November 21, the Yangwang U9 Xtreme made its public debut for the first time. The new model features the "Yi Si Fang" (Easy Four) quad-motor independent drive system, with a peak output power boosted to 2,220 kW (3,019 hp). Previously, it set a new world record for all-electric production vehicles by reaching a top speed of 496.22 km/h at Germany’s ATP test track, followed by a lap time of 6:59.157 minutes on the Nürburgring Nordschleife—another record for an all-electric production car. Only 30 units of this limited-edition vehicle will be produced.

During the show, Yangwang officially released the U9 Xtreme’s lap times recorded at four professional racetracks across China. Visually, the car retains the overall design of the standard U9, featuring a sleek, aerodynamic silhouette, C-shaped LED headlights, and radial-pattern daytime running lights.

Compared to the standard version, the U9 Xtreme undergoes further weight reduction measures. It comes standard with a carbon fiber roof and offers optional carbon fiber performance packages, including a swan-neck carbon fiber rear wing, enhanced front splitter, and carbon fiber wheels. Additionally, certain body components—such as parts of the front and rear compartments—are manufactured using 3D printing technology. Even the brake calipers are 3D-printed from titanium alloy. According to the manufacturer, these enhancements reduce the vehicle’s weight by over 100 kg, resulting in a curb weight of 2,480 kg.

The U9 Xtreme rides on 20-inch carbon fiber wheels at all four corners, fitted with custom semi-slick tires from Giti Tire (size: 325/35 R20 front and rear). Notably, it was equipped with these exact tires when achieving its record-breaking 496.22 km/h top speed at the ATP facility. Its Nürburgring Nordschleife lap time of 6:59.157 seconds also stands as the fastest ever recorded by a production electric vehicle.

Powered by the "Yi Si Fang" quad-motor system, each wheel-mounted motor delivers up to 555 kW, totaling a combined output of 2,220 kW (3,019 hp). The vehicle is paired with a track-focused BYD Blade LFP battery pack, capable of supporting a discharge rate exceeding 30C. For reference, the standard Yangwang U9 currently on sale features individual motors rated at 240 kW each, for a total system output of 960 kW.
