Li Auto L9 Livis: From Mobile Home to Embodied Intelligence Flagship

From Mobile Home to Embodied Intelligence: Li Auto's Decade-Long Evolution with the L9 Livis
In 2019, when China's new energy vehicle (NEV) market was still in its nascent stage, Li Auto entered the scene with its first model—the Li ONE. Amid declining subsidies and skepticism over its three-cylinder range extender and range-extended technology, the brand carved a niche as the "family car for dads." Despite early criticism, the Li ONE achieved over 200,000 cumulative sales by 2022, challenging established benchmarks like the Toyota Highlander and proving the viability of premium electric family SUVs.
Li Auto L9 Livis: From Mobile Home to Embodied Intelligence Flagship 1
By 2022, as NEV penetration surged from 13.4% (2021) to 25.6% (2022), Li Auto launched its flagship L9 at 459,800 yuan. Its "fridge, TV, and sofa" philosophy, paired with the bold claim of being the "best SUV under 5 million yuan," propelled it to instant success. Delivering over 10,000 units in its first full month, the L9 cemented Li Auto’s dominance among Chinese NEV startups—a position sustained through the L8, L7, and L6 launches until 2025, when rivals like Leapmotor began closing the gap.
Now, in 2026, Li Auto responds with the L9 Livis (559,800 yuan), unveiled at February’s pricing announcement and the Beijing Auto Show, with full details set for May 15. This iteration transcends the "mobile home" ethos, evolving into an "embodied intelligence" platform designed for both urban comfort and outdoor exploration.
Technical Leap: Redefining Capability
World’s First "Fully Integrated" Drive-by-Wire Chassis: Combining steer-by-wire, four-wheel steering, and electric mechanical braking (EMB), the system achieves a 5.4-meter turning radius for a 5.255-meter SUV and enables single-wheel braking redundancy.
800V Active Suspension: With 10,000+ newtons of single-wheel lift force, it stabilizes body dynamics during cornering and braking while enabling autonomous off-road recovery—such as lifting wheels to escape sand traps.
Powertrain Upgrades: A new 1.5T four-cylinder range extender cuts WLTC fuel consumption to 6.3L/100km (a 20% drop), while the 5C ultra-fast charging system delivers 70% battery recovery in 10 minutes (10%–80%). CLTC pure-electric range reaches 420km, with a total range of 1,650km.
Intelligent Systems: Four LiDAR units, dual self-developed 5nm Mach 100 chips (2,560 TOPS total), and full-scenario NOA navigation support 300+ parking scenarios.
Design Philosophy: Precision and Refinement
Exterior updates emphasize proportion and presence: a hand-polished golden waistline, triple-layer two-tone paint, and a reconfigured rear light bar to elevate visual height. Inside, a unified front display replaces dual screens, while the rear ceiling screen adjusts position for optimal viewing. Addressing past safety concerns, capacitive anti-pinch technology now safeguards the power-closing doors—a direct response to 2023 feedback.
The Bigger Picture
From the Li ONE’s risky debut to the L9 Livis’ technical ambition, Li Auto has shifted from leveraging supply-chain strengths to defining core automotive innovation. As NEV competition intensifies, this evolution—from urban comfort to holistic "embodied intelligence"—signals a new chapter in reimagining family mobility.
