Recently, it was officially announced that the new MG4 Semi-Solid “Anxin” Edition will make its debut at the Guangzhou Auto Show on November 21. This model is equipped with a semi-solid battery (manganese-based lithium-ion) jointly developed by SAIC and Qingtao Energy, offering a CLTC range of 530 km. Earlier, the new MG4 was officially launched with a price range of 68,800 to 102,800 RMB.
The real vehicle of the new MG4 Semi-Solid “Anxin” Edition has not yet been revealed. Based on the declaration images and information, the exterior maintains the same design as the existing trims. The front end inherits styling elements from the MG Cyberster, featuring a wide-body layout, an LED-backlit MG logo, newly designed headlights, a large front air intake, and additional side air vents.
At the rear, the new MG4 continues to offer a through-type tail-light design with arrow-shaped position lamps. The MG badge is centered on the tailgate, and the license plate area has been moved from the tailgate to the rear bumper. The vehicle measures 4395/1842/1551 mm with a wheelbase of 2750 mm.
Inside, the MG4 adopts a refreshed design that looks cleaner and more modern. While the multifunction steering wheel remains unchanged, the floating central display has increased from 12.3 inches to 15.6 inches. The physical buttons previously located beneath the screen have been removed, though some shortcut switches remain on the center console. The traditional rotary gear selector has been replaced by a column-mounted shifter, and a 50W wireless charging pad has been added to the lower console.
The new MG4 will be the first to feature a smart in-car connectivity system jointly developed by MG and OPPO, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip. The system offers functions such as smartphone-initiated vehicle preparation, integrated phone-vehicle applications, seamless connectivity, shake-to-navigate, and AI-powered interaction features.
The MG4 Semi-Solid “Anxin” Edition differs from other trims in its battery chemistry, switching from an LFP battery to a manganese-based lithium-ion semi-solid battery supplied by Suzhou Qingtao Power Technology. It supports extreme-cold charging and discharging. Battery capacity remains 53.95 kWh, providing a CLTC range of 530 km—identical to the current 530 Smart Edition. However, curb weight increases to 1500 kg, 15 kg more than the 1485 kg Smart Edition.
In terms of power, the MG4 Semi-Solid “Anxin” Edition also remains unchanged, featuring a front-mounted single motor delivering 120 kW and 250 Nm, with front-wheel drive. It accelerates from 0–50 km/h in 3 seconds.
The MG4 EV is positioned as a compact pure-electric hatchback. According to sales data, MG4 sales reached 11,480 units in October. More updates regarding the MG brand will continue to be monitored by Dongchedi.
