Volkswagen has officially confirmed that the Golf GTI Edition 50 will make its world premiere at IAA MOBILITY 2025. Built to celebrate half a century of the GTI legend, the limited-run hatchback sees its 2.0-litre EA888 turbo-four tuned to 239 kW (325 PS) and 420 N⋅m of torque—gains of 44 kW and 50 N⋅m over the standard GTI. Power is routed to the front wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox, delivering a factory-estimated 0-100 km/h sprint in 5.5 seconds.
Visual differentiation comes through five dedicated colours—Pure White, Moonstone Grey, Deep Black Pearl, exclusive Dark Moss Green metallic and heritage Tornado Red—complemented by a gloss-black roof, mirror caps and tailpipes, plus gradient side graphics and a numbered “50” emblem on the rear spoiler. Inside, red seat belts, checkered sport seats embossed with the GTI logo and a leather-wrapped steering wheel marked “GTI 50” reinforce the celebratory theme.
Buyers can tick the GTI Performance Package box for 19-inch “Warmenau” forged wheels (-3 kg each), Bridgestone Potenza Race semi-slicks and an Akrapovič titanium exhaust that sheds 11 kg while adding a sharper soundtrack. The chassis sits 15 mm lower on recalibrated MacPherson struts up front and a four-link rear axle, promising keener turn-in and reduced body roll.
Production at Wolfsburg will start late 2025, with first customer deliveries slated for Q1 2026. While the Edition 50 is the fastest Golf to lap the Nordschleife—7:46.13 in pre-production trim—it will not be offered in North America.
